Troubleshoot Kiosk bill acceptor functionality

PURPOSE

The bill acceptor will not work if the bill acceptor cartridge is not properly connected to the kiosk. The Bill Acceptor will not accept any bills.


PROCESS

  1. Open the door of the kiosk. 
    • NOTE: Opening the kiosk door may expose the bill dispenser to sunlight, which can trip its sensors and cause the bill dispenser to stop working. 
    • If this happens, refer to the instructions in BILL DISPENSER - HOW TO RESTORE FUNCTIONALITY
  2. The bill acceptor cartridge has a yellow handle and sits directly above the bill acceptor. 
  3. Firmly and gently pull it out of the unit. 
  4. With the cartridge removed, look for two small metal contacts on top of the bill acceptor. 
  5. These contacts allow the kiosk to detect the presence of the bill acceptor cartridge. 
  6. The contacts should be raised up as shown in the picture below. 
  7. If they are bent down, use your finger to gently bend them back up.
  8. Insert the bill acceptor cartridge into the kiosk and push it in until the cartridge locks and you hear a series of sounds as the unit initializes. 
  9. You will need to use firm, gentle force to properly insert the bill acceptor cartridge. 
  10. Make sure the kiosk software is loaded and check that the two green lights on the bill are lit as in the picture below. 
  11. These lights indicate the bill acceptor is working properly.
