Troubleshoot Kiosk bill dispenser jam

PURPOSE

Bills are consistently jamming in the kiosk bill dispenser.

 

PROCESS

  1. Pull the bill dispenser out on its rails and inspect the belt running along the top of the unit. 
  2. The belt should be aligned as shown.  
  3. If any part of the belt is misaligned from the dead center, very carefully realign the belt. 
  4. Regardless of whether you found belt misalignment on the top of the bill dispenser, you will need to proceed to check the back of the unit
  5. You will need to remove the bill dispenser from the kiosk in order to check for belt misalignment on the back of the unit. 
  6. First, disconnect the data and power cables from the right side of the bill dispenser.
  7. Pull the bill dispenser out to the end of its rails. 
  8. There will be a curved black plastic clip on each rail.  
  9. Push the clips to disengage the bill dispenser from the rails. 
  10. You can now pull the bill dispenser forward to remove it from the rails.

  11. Examine the belt in the back of the unit for misalignment. 
  12. Most cases of misaligned bill dispenser belts will involve the back of the unit. 
  13. If any part of the belt is misaligned from dead center, very carefully realign the belt and proceed below. 
  14. If you do not see any belt misalignment on the back of the unit, skip to the end of this article.
  15. With the belt realigned, slide the bill dispenser back on its rails and reconnect it to the rails using the black plastic clips. 
  16. Reconnect the data and power cables on the right side of the unit, then push the bill dispenser all the way back into the kiosk.
  17. Double-tap the top right and top left corners to bring up the admin code prompt and close the software. 
  18. Open the Test Point software and select “Start a Test”.
  19. Select “Dispense”.
    • NOTE: This step involves dispensing actual bills, so make sure to have a team member physically present with you before you continue. 
  20. Put an equivalent number of bills in each cassette (2 or 3 in each cassette is recommended) and select “Start a Test”.
  21. Confirm bills are dispensing smoothly.
  22. If you did not detect any belt misalignment on the back of the bill dispenser or if bills do not dispense smoothly after completing the steps, you may have a faulty bill dispenser.
