Troubleshoot Touch Functionality on Send Station

PURPOSE

Troubleshoot the Send Station touch function not working properly.


PROCESS

WARNING: Before proceeding, ensure that the tunnel is not operating or the power to the Send Station has been cut. We will be removing the back panel which exposes the 120v power connector that we do not want to get wet.


Identify Send Station Version

  1. Identify the correct version of send station on site.
    • Monitor with Adderlink - Send Station computer is in IT Cabinet Monitor Only - Send Station computer is in Tunnel
  2. On the back of the Send Station screen in the tunnel, remove the 8 screws securing the cable panel.
    • Monitor with Adderlink - Send Station computer is in IT Cabinet Monitor Only - Send Station computer is in Tunnel


Reset the USB Cables

  1. Remove the panel to see the 120V power cable
  2. Find and remove the CAT5 network cable and the 120V power cable.
  3. Cut the black zip tie as shown. This zip tie keeps the 2 USB's in place.
  4. Flip the panel over, this is where everything else connect.  Be careful as these wires are not very long.
  5. Unplug the 2 USB cables that are still plugged in.  There is usually a black and beige one.
  6. Plug the USB cables back in.
  7. Ensure nothing else had come loose during troubleshooting.
  8. Reattach the panel with the 8 bolts.
  9. Find the Red/Black box in IT Cabinet
  10. Unplug the CAT5 Network Cable and power cable
  11. Reconnect the CAT 5 network Cable and power cable
  1. Carefully disconnect the Tan USB cable
  2. Reconnect the USB cable.
  3. Ensure nothing else had come loose during troubleshooting.
  4. Reattach the panel with the 8 bolts.
  5. Open the computer enclosure under the monitor.
  6. Disconnect the Tan USB cable from the computer.
  7. Reconnect the USB cable.
  8. Close the enclosure


Attempt to calibrate the touch screen

  1. Turn the power back on for the Send station and see if the touch is now working. 
  2. If the touch is working, there are no additional steps.
  3. If the touch is working but not accurately, recalibrate the screen using the ELO software.
  4. On the desktop of the send station there should be either of these programs
  5. Double click on either and follow the prompts to calibrate the screen.
  6. Make sure to tap as close to the center on each position.
  7. When completed verify touch position is now more accurate.


Next Steps

  • If all steps were followed but touch function is still not working contact Mister IT.
  • If screen is damaged or broken a replacement will need to be ordered.
