PURPOSE

The mechanical components of the system need regular preventative maintenance to keep them functioning properly.

PROCESS

Bill Dispenser - Weekly

  1. Blow out any debris inside the bill dispenser cassettes using compressed air. Pay special attention to the bill rollers (see picture below), where debris tends to accumulate

Bill Dispenser - Monthly

  1. Remove Debris from Bill Dispenser
    • Pull the dispenser out on its rails and remove the bill dispenser cassettes. Blow out any debris inside the bill dispenser using compressed air. Take care not to blow any debris back into the kiosk.
  2. Check Bill Dispenser Belts for Wear
    1. With the cassettes removed, turn the green wheel clockwise to rotate the belt.
    2. While the belt is rotating, inspect it for cracks and wear. Open a ticket with the Service Desk if the belt shows signs of wear.
  3. Clean Bill Dispenser Sensors
    1. The bill dispenser has five sets of sensors that must be cleaned monthly.
      • NOTE: Use ONLY a clean, dry cloth or compressed air (yellow sensors only) to clean sensors.
      • NEVER use cleaning chemicals on sensors.
      • NOTE: The sensor sets are grouped by color and referred to by their color groups in this guide. The actual sensors are not colorful.
    2. The five sensor groups are located in these areas:
      1. Red and blue sensors (two of each kind) are on the top-front of the bill dispenser
      2. The green sensor is on the inside-back of the reject tray slot
      3. Orange sensors (two total) are inside the bill cassette slots
      4. Yellow sensors (three total) are inside the bill dispenser (only one is visible)
      5. Red and blue sensors:
        • The side facing down must be cleaned.
        • The metal bill guides partially block your access
        • There is enough room for a finger to reach the underside of the sensors
      6. Green sensor:
        • This sensor is in the back of the reject tray slot.
        • Since this is a tight fit, the sensor cannot be seen when wiping it down.
        • There is a small screw right next to the hole the sensor head rests in.
        • Use the small screw as a guide to the hole.
      7. Orange sensors:
        • There is more room to maneuver inside the bill cassette
        • There should have no problem reaching these sensors.
        • These sensors are located in metal divots
        • Be sure to use enough pressure to reach and clean the sensors.
      8. Yellow sensors:
        • These are not accessible by hand, use compressed air to clean them.
        • Find the opening by the green belt control wheel on the lower-right side of the dispenser.
        • Insert the compressed air tube into this opening so that it points at the sensor inside the bottom cassette slot.
        • A thorough blowout of this area should also clear any dust or debris that may have collected on the remaining two sensors (which cannot be seen).

Bill Acceptor - Weekly

  1. Inspect the cassette to see if debris has gotten into the gears.
  2. Debris can be blown out using compressed air.
  3. To get the middle bar to pull out, roll the wheels counter-clockwise.

Bill Acceptor - Monthly

  1. Insert a bill acceptor cleaning card into the acceptor slot multiple times to remove accumulated dirt and oil.
    • Bill acceptor cleaning cards can be purchased through Amazon

Credit Card Reader - Weekly

  1. Insert a card reader cleaning card multiple times to clean credit card readers and sensors.
    • Card reader cleaning cards can be purchased through Amazon

BFT Gate - Monthly

  1. Disengage the gate motor using the key.
  2. After unlocked, the gate arm should rise.
  3. Push the gate arm back down to horizontal and let go of it.
  4. The gate should rise to a 45-degree angle.
  5. If it does not, speak to your maintenance team to have the gate rebalanced.
