PURPOSE

Auto-adjusting or “snapping” your application windows is an easy and effective way to make the most out of your monitor’s limited space. It can help you work more effectively and stay organized when working in two or more windows.

PROCESS

Windows 10

Snapping with the Keyboard

  1. Select the window you want to snap and press the Windows logo key and the left or right arrow key to snap that window to the left or right side of your screen.
  2. If you want to move the window to a corner after snapping it, press the Windows logo key and the up or down arrow key to move it to the desired corner.
  3. After moving the window to a corner, you can use the Windows logo key and the arrow keys to move it around.
  4. You can select another window to snap and show multiple windows side by side.

Snapping with the Mouse

  1. Select the title bar (i.e., the horizontal bar at the top of a window) of the window you want to snap.
  2. Drag it to the left or right edge of the screen. An outline will appear to show where the window will snap to once you drop it.
  3. You can drag another window to the opposite side of the screen to show two windows side by side.

Apple

  1. Hover your pointer over the Full-Screen button in the upper-left corner of the window. You can also click and hold the button.
  2. Choose “Tile Window to Left of Screen” or “Tile Window to Right of Screen” from the menu. The window will fill that side of the screen.
