How to manually set the IP in Windows 10

PURPOSE

You need to change the IP address in Windows 10.


PROCESS

  1. From the main screen, click the Start Menu icon.
  2. Start typing “Control Panel” and click the icon when it appears.
  3. Click “Network and Sharing Center”.
  4. NOTE: If your screen looks different than shown, change the “View by” selection to “Small icons”.
  5. Click the Wi-Fi or Ethernet name next to “Connections”.
  6. Click “Properties”.
  7. On the next popup, scroll down to find “Internet Protocol Version 4”.
  8. Click “Internet Protocol Version 4” and then click “Properties”.
  9. NOTE: Do not uncheck the box as this will disable the service.
  10. Select both “Use the following IP address” and “Use the following DNS server addresses”.
  11. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and preferred DNS server from the email that was sent and then click “OK”. Close all remaining windows.
