How to setup an HP LaserJet M430 MFP printer - Store

PURPOSE

This document was created to explain how to setup the HP M430 Printer at a store.


PROCESS

  1. Verify the printer is the same model.
  2. Connect the ethernet cord and power cable to the printer. 
  3. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the IT Cabinet network switch
    • Dell Switch: Port 40 
      • Mounted at the top of the cabinet and has a black front.
    • Meraki Switch: Port 30
      • Mounted at the top of the cabinet and has a white front.
  4. Click “Settings” 
    • NOTE: You may need to slide your finger across the screen to get to the Settings section
  5. Click the Networking tab.
  6. Click “Ethernet”.
  7. Click “TCP/IP”.
  8. Click “IPV4 SETTINGS
  9. Click “CONFIG METHOD”
  10. Select “MANUAL”. Then, click “OK”.
  11. Then, click “IP ADDRESS” to enter your IP address. 
  12. Enter your IP address. Then, click “OK”.
    • Dell Switches: the IP address is 10.12.x.30 (x is site specific).
    • Meraki Switches: the IP address is 10.30.10.30

  13. Enter 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask. Then, click “OK”.
  14. Enter the default gateway. Then, click “OK”.
    • Dell Switches: the default gateway is 10.x.x.1 (x is site specific).
    • Meraki Switches: the default gateway is 10.10.10.1
  15. On the Manager PC, search for printers & scanners on the taskbar. Open “Printers & Scanners”.
  16. Click “Add a printer or scanner”.
  17. The HP MFP M430 printer will be listed. Right click on it and click “Add device”.
  18. Then, click on the “Open printer app”
  19. An HP Smart window will appear. Click “Accept” and then click “Set Up a New Printer”.
  20. Click on your printer that is displaying as “Online”.
  21. Your printer will display as “Ready”.
  22. Open Control Panel by searching it on the taskbar, and right click “View devices and printers
  23. Right click on your printer and click “Set as default printer”.
  24. Right click on your printer again and click “Printer properties”.
  25. Select “Print Test Page”.
  26. Your printer should now print a test page.


Scanner Configuration

  1. In a web browser type in your printer IP
    • Dell Switches: the IP address is 10.12.x.30 (x is site specific).
    • Meraki Switches: the IP address is 10.30.10.30
  2. In the Security tab, check "Enable Remote User Auto Capture" then click apply.
  3. In the Network tab, clip "Other Settings", then ensure "WebScan" and "Secure WebScan" are checked and click apply.
  4. Open HP Smart, click "Scan" and verify if the scanning functionality is now working.
