PURPOSE

This document outlines the process for certifying cards and datasets in Mister Intel (Domo).

PROCESS

Card Certification

  1. Complete ALL card fields before you present a card for certification
    1. Card Owner: Make DomoSysAdmin the owner or co-owner.
    2. Card Title: Enter a short, descriptive title. Don’t include “DEV” or “UAT” in the title.
    3. Card Description: Enter additional information about the card or describe any set filters. This field is optional.
    4. Axis Labels: Enter axis labels that make sense (if needed for graph type).
    5. Sort Order: Verify that the sort order makes sense (by month, amount, etc.)
    6. Hover Values: Verify that hover values are enabled. This allows users to see exact numbers when hovering over a graph.
    7. Summary Number and Description: Verify that the summary number and description are displayed (e.g., 12M; Sum of Total Active).
    8. Drill Downs: Decide if drill downs are necessary for the card. If yes, select which information to display. The default shows the dataset in a table, but it can also display a chart/graph.
    9. Data Audit: Verify that this shows when the page was last opened or refreshed.
    10. Data Update Schedule: Verify that the dataset is updated at the correct cadence.
    11. User Access to the Right Audience: Verify that the card has been shared with the minimum number of people required and that the correct audience has access.
    12. Connected Cards: If you have multiple cards that are related, you can add a link to the related card(s).
    13. Executive Sign-Off:This field is not visible on the Card.
      • For departmental certification, the Functional Analyst and Department Manager or Director should sign off.
      • For company certification, the VP of the department should sign off.
  2. Cards and dashboards proposed for certification must also meet the specific requirements of the Mister Intel Go-Live Checklist.

Submit for Approval

  1. Click the Wrench icon on the card.
  2. Click “Request certification”.
  3. Select a process (e.g., “Operations”). A pop-up window will appear with the card you are certifying and its approval chain.
  4. The approver will receive your request and approve it to complete the certification process.
    • NOTE: If DomoSysAdmin is the sole owner, then only they can send the request for certification.

Dataset Certification

  1. Once a dataset is available in Intel, the validator will verify that the data is correct.
    • This process varies depending on the dataset.
  2. Click the ellipses icon on the upper right of the dataset to open the menu.
  3. Click “Request new certification”.
  4. Select a process and choose which department needs to certify the dataset.
  5. The approver will receive your request and approve it to complete the certification process.

Dashboard Maintenance

  1. To maintain the dashboard, do the following once each quarter:
  2. Reassign or delete cards without an owner.
  3. Delete cards that haven’t been updated in the last 30 to 60 days.
    • Check with the card owner first to make sure there isn’t a reason to keep it.
  4. Delete cards that haven’t been viewed in the last 60 to 90 days.
  5. Delete cards that don’t have owners and don’t belong to a dashboard.
    • These cards were removed from a dashboard but weren’t deleted.
