How to terminate/create network cable

PURPOSE

Provide instructions on how to properly terminate a network cable


PROCESS

  1. Gather all materials
    1. Network cable
    2. Connector - RJ45
    3. Crimping tool
    4. Wire cutters/strippers
  2. After all materials are gathered and cable has been run to the necessary location we can start terminating the cable ends.
  3. Strip the outside wire approximately 1/2 in from the end of the cable.
    • NOTE: Do not cut the colored strands inside as this will prevent the cable from working.
  4. Next is to order the smaller internal wires in the proper order.
  5. Mister uses the T568B connection order.
    1. Orange/White
    2. Orange
    3. Green/White
    4. Blue
    5. Blue/White
    6. Green
    7. Brown/White
    8. Brown
  6. Next, insert the ordered cables into the connector.
  7. Make sure to insert the cables in as far as they can to verify proper connections
  8. Now crimp the connector using the crimp tool
  9. The cable is now ready for testing and use.
